Mall at Steamtown and WVIA Partner Up!

The Mall at Steamtown has teamed up with WVIA & PBS to bring favorite WVIA characters to The Mall at Steamtown this year! Starting on Saturday, February 28th kids of all ages will get a chance to meet Curious George, then on Saturday, May 23rd Super Why! will be at The Mall at Steamtown and finally right after the Santa Parade on Saturday, November 21st Clifford the Big Red Dog will make his appearence. All events are scheduled from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. are of course are free to everyone. Mark your calendars and bring the kids, and don’t forget to watch all your favorite shows on WVIA every morning and afternoon!

Wizard Coming to The Mall at Steamtown!

Jake T. Austin, star of Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place will appear at The Mall at Steamtown on Sunday, October 26th from 11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Head to The Mall at Steamtown starting on September 29th to enter to win a chance to meet Jake at the mall, each weekday The Mall at Steamtown will pick 5 winners who will get to bring along one friend to meet Jake in center court on October 26th, winners will be announced on 97 BHT. There will be a limited number of tickets to see Jake on October 26th.

Jake T. Austin stars as youngest sibling Max who along with his brother and sister, inherits magical powers in the sitcom “Wizards of Waverly Place.”

Austin is set to star in the Lionsgate film, “The Perfect Game,” based on a true story about the first non-U.S. team to win the Little League World Series,” and the DreamWorks film “Hotel for Dogs” which is slated for early 2009. He also had a lead role in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board.”

A voice-over actor, he can be heard in several TV series and films including the lead in Nickelodeon’s “Go, Diego, Go!,” the featured animated films “Everyone’s Hero” and “The Ant Bully,” as well as the musical CDs “Diego, Dora & Friends Animal Jamboree Album” and “Dora’s Fiesta Album.”

Born December 12, 1994 in New York, Austin currently lives in Los Angeles with his family.

This Friday night at The Mall at Steamtown you’ll have a chance to meet World Wrestling Coalition’s star attractions The Good Ole Boys, Tommy Thunder, Vinnie Delicious and Nikolai Volkoff with a special appearance by the Exterminator in center court of The Mall at Steamtown from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. It all leads up to the big event Saturday night at the Scranton’s Old CYC when old time wrestling meets big time action! Bell time for the Electric City Rumble is 8 p.m., doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are now on sale at The Mall at Steamtown Guest Service Center.

Don’t miss the main event where Mayor Doherty inducts Nikolai Volkoff into the WWC Hall of Fame! Tickets are only $25 ringside and $15 general admission.

The Bunny Hops to Center Court this Weekend!

The Bunny will arrive once again in our beautiful center court garden at The Mall at Steamtown. Join us bright and early Saturday morning as the bunny arrives at 10 a.m. and will be joined by Zoe the Clown and the magic of Joe Raven! Reading Time at the Mall is held each year to help promote reading to our children and to help promote parents and guardians to read to their children as well.

Rock & Roll Art Display at The Mall at Steamtown

Wallenpaupack Area School District Art teacher Stephen G. Rishko has placed his paintings on display at The Mall at Steamtown. It’s a Rock n Roll Art Display featuring many well known rock n roll artists including Gerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne, James Hetfield, Howard Stern and many more. Twelve paintings in all are displayed throughout the mall in unused store fronts.

Stephen’s paintings are an energetic interpretation of his robust, self confidence of attitude, experience, and perseverance. He’s painting to get young people excited about the arts. Hopefully the next generation will see that paintings can energize the senses and this will persuade them to get more involved with the arts in general.

His paintings are on display at the mall during all regular mall hours.

North East PA Miners Tryouts this Saturday!

The NEPA Miner’s Entertainment Team will be holding tryouts for the 2008 season squad on Saturday, January 26th at The Mall at Steamtown in Scranton, PA. This is a chance for any one interested in the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of fans and represent the Miners at community events throughout the year! All candidates must be 18 years of age and must be a high school graduate or at the minimum.

The audition sessions will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 26th at The Mall at Steamtown Center Court with all entrants receiving two hours of training on dance and cheer. Following a 1 hour break, the tryouts will begin at 1 p.m.
