The Mall at Steamtown is proud to be a supporter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for 2008, as part of our partnership with the organization all coins dropped into the fountain on the lower level outside of Boscov’s will be donated directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In recent years The Mall at Steamtown has supported The Children’s Miracle Network raising thousands of dollars through the fountain fund. The next time your shopping at the mall make a stop by the fountain, all coins dropped in the fountain are good for one wish each and will go a long way in helping to fight to save lives.

I’m sure if you’ve been traveling through The Mall at Steamtown in the last two months you’ve seen the bright red 2008 Volvo in center court with “Win Me!” imprinted on it in big bold lettering. Well on Saturday, December 22nd that’s exactly what Miriah Vise of Drums, PA did. In fact she beat out 25 other contestants competing in the Are you Smarter than BHT? contest. Answering all types of questions from what’s 2 + 2 to recent pop culture events Miriah stuck it out to walk away with a 2 year lease on a 2008 Volvo courtesy of Santo Lincoln Mercury Volvo, The Mall at Steamtown and 97 BHT! Its the second time The Mall at Steamtown has given loyal shoppers and BHT listeners a chance at owning a car, last year a brand new Milan was given to the person who hung on the longest during the “Hands on the Milan” contest. Look for more contests and giveaways in 2008!
Drake Bell made his way to The Mall at Steamtown on Saturday, December 8th and left in his wake thousands of happy fans! Hundreds lined up early with their golden tickets, winners from the many Drake Bell promos leading up to the event, and hundreds more joined them to get a sneak peak of Drake. What they all got was an afternoon that was enjoyable for all. Drake not only got through all 500 fans in line but made time to make sure that all the fans that didn’t have tickets got something special as well. Drake didn’t sing one or two songs at the mall he sang a total of FIVE and fans enjoyed every one of them. Drake also took time after his signing autographs to do a little Q & A with his fans. While Drake was in town he promoted his new movie “Superhero” and also promised his fans that a new album is in the works! It was a long day at the mall as Drake arrived on time at 12:30 and although Drake took a brief break to make some calls to the Children’s Miracle Network hospital he was back on stage until 5 p.m. Fans throughout the day were very courteous to not only Drake but to those around them making for an enjoyable and successful day. The Mall at Steamtown, SPD, SFD and Lackawanna County DA’s office were all in attendance and extend a thank you to everyone in attendance. Over 400 raffle tickets to win one of three autographed guitars supplied by The Mall at Steamtown and Magdon Music were sold, if you’d like a chance to win one of those guitars raffle tickets are available until Wednesday, December 12th at Mall at Steamtown Guest Services. Mall and City Officials prepare for Drake Bell

Officials from The Mall at Steamtown, the Scranton Police Dept. and the Scranton Fire Dept. met Tuesday, November 20th. The meeting addressed the forthcoming appearance by Drake Bell from Nickelodeon’s hit Drake and Josh show. Drake Bell will appear at The Mall at Steamtown on December 8th. In order to make the event a positive and memorable experience for all who attend, extensive planning has been essential. The partnership with the City law enforcement is nothing new. “Extensive preparations go into every event at the mall. Public safety is paramount. We’re meeting as we always do, taking into account the last successful event and improving upon areas where the public feels we can do better,” stated James Walsh, Vice President of Property Management for Prizm Asset Management Company. “We’re working with city and county officials and taking all necessary steps to make the Drake Bell appearance enjoyable for everyone.” For people attending the event on December 8th, get to the mall early, be respectful of those waiting and watching with you, and enjoy the experience. A limited number of tickets will be given out through promotions tied to the event. Everyone else will get to enjoy two acoustic performances by Drake Bell during the event.

Every day from now until December 5th (except Thanksgiving) at 11 a.m. & 5:30 p.m. 125 scratch and win cards will be handed out at our guest services center on the lower level outside of Bon Ton, winners will receive a “Golden Ticket” to meet Drake on December 8th, if your not a winner you can still put your name and number on the back of the card for a second chance to win one last ticket, the more losing tickets you earn the more chances you have to win. Shoppers will get one chance per day and time, once you win you are not eligible to win a second time. Special Santa Arrival This Friday Night!
Published November 6, 2007 Events , General Leave a CommentThis Friday Night The Mall at Steamtown will welcome back the jolly ole elf Santa to the mall’s center court. Santa will be joined Friday night by magicians, jugglers, clowns, Hershey Characters and a special appearance by Tux from the Wilkes Barre Penguins! Free candy canes will be handed out to children and every child that visits Santa will receive the sequel storybook/coloring book to The Mall at Steamtown’s 2006 “Greatest Gift of All” storybooks. This years story is titled Seymour and Suzy’s Holiday Adventure and is sure to delight children of all ages!
Also throughout the holiday season children can ride the North Pole Holiday Train, train rides are available daily throught the holiday for just $2.50 a ride, children under 24 inches must ride with a parent (parent not charged for a ride).
Finally if you’ve been looking for a Nintendo Wii we’re giving you a chance to take one home with you Friday night, enter to win in center court on Friday starting at 5 p.m., we’ll pick one name and award that person their very own Nintendo Wii, winners MUST be present to win, drawing will be held at 8:30 p.m. this Friday night!

The first even Dunder Mifflin “uncommon” Stockholders’ meeting was a resounding success Saturday as all in favor voted for Dunder Mifflin to go public. Hundreds attended the event which drew out Oscar and Darryl from the Scranton Branch and David Wallace from corporate to make sure all went well. Thanks to members of The Northeast Theater and the Scranton Chamber of Commerce for making sure the event went off without a hitch!
The first even office convention in Scranton, PA also saw a few other office stars make surprise visits to The Mall at Steamtown, Mindy Kalins (Kelly) stopped by to check out the mall and get some photos taken on Saturday, Andy Buckley (David Wallace), Oscar Nunez (Oscar) and Craig Robinson (Darryl) all took part in the performance on Saturday afternoon and Phyllis Smith (Phyllis) Leslie David Baker (Stanley) and Melora Hardin (Jan) all stopped by on Sunday afternoon to take some photos with there cardboard likenesses as well as a photo at the “Welcome to Scranton” Sign (below).
Most prominently of all Co Executive Producer Kent Zbornak atteneded the performance on Saturday and after meeting with fans and signing autographs actually signed a lease agreement for 10 square feet of space in the mall’s center court making “the office” a permanent tenant at the mall!
We here at The Mall at Steamtown were very honored that these cast members took time to stop by the mall, they were all so very nice to everyone that if its possibly to be bigger fans of the show than we were, we are now.

Sherita Burrus singing Lady Marmalade won over the crowd and the judges Saturday night to be crowned the first ever Steamtown Idol. Sherita takes with her a $1,000 Mall at Steamtown shopping spree, studio time at Rock Street Music, a celebrity interview on the Jenn and AJ show and a trip to New York City to be critiqued by a record executive!
